We are a family from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and this was our first time experiencing winter and doing a winter hike—it was quite challenging 😅. Erlend was extremely well-prepared and very patient with our pace throughout the hike. His dog, Baba, is so sweet and made the experience even more fun, especially for our children who loved playing with her.

After the hike, Erlend took us to a lovely vegetarian dinner while thoughtfully considering our needs as Muslims. Truly a memorable experience! Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely use Erlend’s expertise again if we visit Norway in the future 😀.

PS: I forgot to mention that Erlend is also a fantastic photographer—we got some absolutely beautiful photos from him 😀

Our Hatten hike with them was of our favorite experiences during our Norway trip! It was rainy and foggy and wet and we had to revise our plans to do the Priekestolen hidden trail hike/canoe ride, and our guide Erlend (“Alan”) made reasonable recommendations based on the unfortunate weather and we still got a very adventurous hike with a view. It was definitely more difficult than I imagined but not impossible and Alan made it fun and shared lots of informational pearls along the way too. Lunch was delicious and the warm berry tea was a great addition. Added bonus was having his dog accompany us. We went with our 3 kids and all of them said their favorite part of the hike was Baba the border collie!

I participated in the Pulpit Rock sunrise hiking tour and had an absolutely amazing experience! Huge thanks to my guide Erlend and his lovely dog Balder — they truly made the trip unforgettable. Even though I was the only guest that day, the tour was not canceled, which speaks volumes about their professionalism and business integrity.
Everything was perfectly organized: punctual pickup, high-quality gear including headlamps and trekking poles, and a well-planned schedule tailored around the sunrise — ideal for beginner hikers like me. Erlend was incredibly caring and knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights about local birds and plants along the way. We even had a fun conversation about photographing next year's total solar eclipse!
Despite the cloudy forecast, Erlend somehow "called the sky" (joking!) and I was lucky enough to witness a beautiful sunrise quietly without crowds of people. This tour exceeded all expectations — highly recommended.

10 stars! We can't say enough about how wonderful our experience with Erlend (and his amazing pup Balder) was. We did back to back hikes. Kjeragbolten one day and Preikestolen the next. I won't spoil the secret, but Erlend has a way to hike and miss 99% of the crowds, which made for a really special experience. Erlend was recommended by a friend who hiked with him last summer, and we were fortunate to be able to book him for our group of 4. If you really want a peaceful hike, this is the way yo go!! Thank you again Erlend, Balder and Explorer Lysefjorden!

Extraordinary satisfied.
We did the Kjerag hike today.
The connectivity and the promptness with the company was amazing.

Grateful for starting the tour at 7AM instead of 5AM ( it allowed us to have breakfast at the hotel AND be awake during the drive, allowing us to enjoy the scenery!!

The provided lunches were very tasty and plentiful.

The guide, Cristian, was Absolutely amazing!!!!!
No superlatives can fully describe this incredible individual!!
Professional, extremely kind and very attentive, VERY knowledgeable of the trail. He walked with us every step of the trail, and especially during the last 1-1.5 hours of the hike when it was raining a lot and the trail was very slippery!!!!

We really feel that we lucked out during this hike with him!!!
