Thought Steinkjer (starting point Kystriksveien Fv17 to Bodø) is geographical midpoint Norway. They've got road signs there hinting at their midpoint near the city. It's possible that they measure differently: One might be road kilometers, while the other rather as the crow flies; don't remember which is which—maybe google it yourself.
Addendum (Dec 9, 2023): Now I've googled it myself: The Ogndalsfjella in the southeastern part of the Steinkjer municipality is supposedly the geographical midpoint of mainland Norway, located at 63°59′26″N/12°18′28″E, according to Wikipedia. Brønnøysund's claim seems to be more of an informal statement pertaining rather to their official tourism slogan of being the 'Coastal Town in the Middle of Norway.' I'm not sure what this really means, but it seems it pertains to the road kilometers South to North—that's at least what their sign says (pics July 24, 2023), without specifying, however, what roads/routes exactly they've measured.
Fun facts re the Ogndalsfjella near Steinkjer as the 'real' geographical midpoint Norway:
(a) Method. Harald Stavestrand of the Norwegian Mapping & Cadastre Authority, when searching for the balancing point of mainland Norway (excluding the overseas areas of Svalbard & Jan Mayen, disregarding also elevation etc.), had feared that the center would turn out to be in Sweden due to the curved shape of Norway, but luckily it ended up within the borders of Norway (Wikipedia, accessed Dec 9, 2023, ~16:30 CET).
(b): Competition. There's apparently a happy competition about the claim of being Norway's center point, using differing methods. The competing places include Harran in the municipality of Grong (halving the mainland by its northern- & southernmost latitudes), the village of Vilhelmina in the municipality of Vilhelmina/Sweden (halving the great-circle distance), Grane Church in the municipality of Grane & Alstahaug Church in the municipality of Alstahaug (both by halving longer great circle distances), and finally Mosjøen in the municipality of Vefsn (Wikipedia, accessed Dec 9, 2023, ~16:30 CET).
